The Republican war on women has reached even deeper lows. In another example of the rampant misogyny commonly spewed by Republican lawmakers, a Connecticut State Representative Mike Bocchino, when discussing a bill regarding sexual assaults on campus, made some atrocious comments in regards to witnesses.
After implying that the testimony of victims was insufficient evidence, he then went on to say that “Because at the end of the day, there are no witnesses…or at least if there are, it’s a really great party.”
That’s right. According to this Republican, a gathering where multiple witnesses allow a victim to be raped in their presence constitutes a “great party”.
Mr. Bocchino now argues that his comments were taken out of context, but it’s hard to find a context where that comment wouldn’t be deeply offensive.
