In this clip, Bernie Sanders rails against the barriers preventing young people from receiving a higher education and announces his plan to
“It is a national disgrace that hundreds of thousands of young Americans do not go to college, not because they are unqualified, but because they cannot afford it. This is absolutely counter-productive to our efforts to create a strong and competitive and a vibrant middle class. This is not what America is supposed to be about. This disgrace has got to end.”
He then proposes his plan to offer free public colleges for all, at a cost of $750 billion over the next ten years, to be paid for be instituting a .5% speculation fee on all Wall Street transactions, an additional fee on bond transactions and derivative trading. It’s a classic Bernie Sanders move, but one this country desperately needs. It’s about time that Wall Street and the big banks began giving back to our nation after having robbed us blind over the past twenty years.
