In this clip, Grammy-award winning country star Garth Brooks praises President Obama for his efforts to improve the lives of everyday Americans and criticizes the ridiculous obstructionism that Obama has had to face from his enemies on the right side of the aisle.
Garth says that “Yeah, I think what President Obama is finding out is, all that we want to do, the system kind of doesn’t allow the most powerful guy in the world to kind of do his job, and I’m sure nobody’s more frustrated than him to complete those promises that he did and I think he’s trying his heart out. I love him to death and I fully support him and I just wish him well because it’s got to be hell in that office.”
He then goes on to express his dismay with the state of polarized partisan politics that have entirely consumed our political system, saying that “It just seems like we vote for things because they’re Republican or Democratic. I think we should vote for them because they’re right or wrong and we kind of have seemed to have fallen into that trap so that would be the one warning I would give all us.”
His remarks triggered a firestorm of anger from his conservative fans and the right-wing media network in general, furious at the apparent betrayal by one of their iconic musical artists. Kudos to him for speaking what he really believes and standing out as a moderate in an ocean of radicals.
