Watch Bill Nye Hit Back At Conservatives: Texas Floods Caused By CLIMATE CHANGE!

In this clip, beloved scientist Bill Nye “The Science Guy” addresses the angry response he received for his tweets about the link between climate change and the terrible flooding in Texas, and makes his case for the importance of addressing climate change and how we can help to move our country forward:

“I just want to remind voters, suppose you have someone running for Congressional district, who denied the link between cigarette smoking and cancer. Would you vote for that person? You might. But if this person were adamant, “No, the scientists are wrong, would you vote for them? The connection between climate change and human activity is at least as strong as cigarettes and cancer. And so I just want everybody to keep this in mind, that its very reasonable that the floods in Texas, the strengthening storms..these things are a result of human activity are making things worse.”

He then addresses the “This is expensive business, when you flood the fourth largest city in the United States, somebody’s gonna pay for it, and it’s you and me, and so the sooner we get to work on climate change, the better. And people say to me, Bill, what can I do about climate change? What I say nowadays is “talk about it”. If we were talking about climate change the same way we talk about what’s going on in Baltimore and Ferguson, we’d be doing something about it.”

Bill Nye hits the nail on the head. There is certainly a connection between the extremes in weather patterns that we need to recognize and deal with before more tragedies like this occur and the American people are stuck with the cost of Republican denial.
