Watch: Sanders Blasts GE for Shipping Jobs to China After Begging for U.S. Bailout

In this clip, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) passionately rails against the very ungrateful General Electric and other big corporations who received bailouts from the American public for then outsourcing thousands of American jobs to China. “When I talk to CEOs, I talk about China, China, China, China, China! Five Chinas! Outsourcing to China is going to grow to five billion [jobs]! We are building a tech center in China. Every discussion today has to center on China.”

He then discusses the difficulties of manufacturing here in the states due to outsourcing and laments the fact that it’s cheaper to build a refrigerator in China and to fly it here than it is to make it here ourselves. “When GE had, a couple years ago, some really difficult economic times, they needed SIXTEEN billion dollars to bail them out! I didn’t here Mr. Immelt (GE CEO) going China, China, China, China, China! I heard Mr. Immelt going to the taxpayers of the United States for his welfare check.”

Sanders finished strong: “So I say to Mr. Immelt, and I say to all of those CEOs who have been so quick to run to China, that maybe it is time to start reinvesting in the United States of America.” He’s absolutely right. It’s about time we took our corporations to task for shipping American jobs overseas and then running to the taxpayers when things get rough.
