In this clip, Bernie Sanders sits down with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos to talk about the healthcare ruling and the future of healthcare in America. Sanders proposes the expansion of Medicaid for all and eventually converting to a single-payer system: “We need to join the rest of the industrialized world,” Sanders said. “We are the only major country on earth that doesn’t guarantee health care to all people as a right, and yet we end up spending much more than they do. So I do believe that we have to move toward a Medicare for all, single-payer system…It’s not going to happen tomorrow, but that certainly should be the goal.”
He then emphasizes the fact that healthcare for all is a right, and that our nation has been letting her people down by refusing to take proper care of them in their times of need. It’s a critical issue that Bernie has been championing for years, and the SCOTUS ruling preserving Obamacare puts his dream just a little closer to reality.
