Trump: I'll Scare The Pope Into Loving Capitalism By Threatening Him With ISIS (VIDEO)

Donald Trump’s mission to offend everybody of any significance has no boundaries. In a recent interview with Chris Cuomo of CNN, Trump threatened His Holiness Pope Francis I with ISIS if the Pope dared to be critical of capitalism during next month’s visit to the U.S.

“I’m Protestant but I have great respect for the Pope. I like the Pope. I actually like him. He’s becoming very political, there’s no question about it. But I like him,” Trump said. “He seems like a pretty good guy.”

However, Trump again made headlines when he went on to say that if the Pope attacks capitalism (as seen in the video): “That ISIS wants to get you. You know that ISIS wants to go in and take over the Vatican…I’m gonna have to scare the Pope because it’s the only thing. Look: The Pope, I hope, can only be scared by God,” Trump said. “But the truth is, if you look at what’s going on, they better hope that capitalism works because it’s the only thing we have right now. And it’s a great thing when it works properly.”

Trump appears to be speaking in a tongue-and-cheek manner when he responds to Cuomo, but his comments do raise some serious issues confronting the Republican Party.

The Pope has been critical of himself for not being tougher on ever-increasing income disparity worldwide. In July, he said “it was an error of mine” referring, at the time, to having not more-adequately addressed unfettered capitalism in Bolivia – but most certainly connecting indelibly unfettered capitalism and the Republican Party.

In June, the Pope took on climate change, saying “Doomsday predictions can no longer be met with irony or disdain…The earth, our home, is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth. In many parts of the planet, the elderly lament that once beautiful landscapes are now covered with rubbish.”

We are most certainly aware of the migraine the Pope’s comments about climate change has caused for Republicans. Jeb Bush said: “But I don’t get economic policy from my bishops or my cardinals or my Pope… . (religion) ought to be about making us better as people, less about things [that] end up getting into the political realm.” Not to be outdone, Rick Santorum told the Pope “leave science to scientists.”

Of course, we all know what the Republicans think of science.Trump has shown that he truly has no respect for anyone but himself by daring to threaten the patriarch of one of the world’s biggest religions. Trump evidently has little use for religion; instead, he chooses to prostrate himself before the altar of capitalism.
