Another day brings yet more senseless gun violence in America. This time, a misguided Christmas present caused a horrible accident that could have killed a child.

Twenty-four year old and horrifically irresponsible gun owner Andrew Bowman was testing out his new gun cleaning kit on his pistol, inside the house, clearly without taking the bullets out. 

He promptly shot his two-year old niece in the face. 

The child was quickly medivaced to a Portland hospital, where she is undergoing surgery and is expected to survive.  Mr. Bowman was extremely lucky that his gross negligence didn’t lead to yet another senseless killing of an innocent child; his case is yet another of the countless examples that show the American population is far too irresponsible to own firearms. By the grace of good fortune, a tragedy was avoided; one that should never had been a possibility in the first place.
