Protesters in California have turned out in force for a second day, blocking access to the Hyatt Hotel on both sides of the road where the California GOP Convention is scheduled to begin later today in Burlingame, CA. Some 200 anti-Trump activists have broken through police barriers and chained themselves together in defiance of both the armed riot police that have descended on the area and the Trump supporters, many of whom are demanding that they be “run over.”
The state of California is a key battleground for Trump’s path to the nomination – but it appears that he and his message of hate aren’t welcome in Golden State. Last night, protests turned violent as the Trumpcoats clashed with the angry citizens, furious that Trump’s brand of racism and discrimination has finally come to their state. 20 were arrested and several sustained busted noses.
It’s a beautiful show of civil disobedience by liberal Americans – some from the Occupy Oakland movement, some LGBT/feminist activists, others from the BlackLivesMatter movement and immigration activists- but all are united in their message: No Hate In Our State.
