In this video, former President Jimmy Carter :scolds Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for his reckless hawkishness and his disrespectful attacks on Carter’s legacy. Ronan Farrow asks Carter what his response was to McCain’s jab: “I thought Jimmy Carter was bad, but he pales in comparison to this president!”
Carter declares “that’s a compliment to be coming from a warmonger!” He then highlights the absurdity of the Republican pro-war faction and their utter disregard for the consequences and the abject suffering that comes with war in his closing statement:
“I was lucky enough, when I was president. to keep our country at peace and to provide peace for others. I was lucky enough during my four years I never dropped a bomb, never fired a missile, and never shot a bullet.”
